Health Poverty Index (HPI)
The Health Poverty Index (HPI) is a web-based tool which allows groups, differentiated by geography and cultural identity, to be contrasted in terms of their 'health poverty' which is their present state of health and future health potential. The HPI tool provides a single visual summary of a large range of indicators which may provide some bearing on future health in an area. The indicators are presented under three main headings - root causes, intervening factors and situation of health - which are then sub-divided based on the geographical scale at which they tend to operate which are regional, local, individual.
