The HPI tool provides a single visual summary of a large range of indicators which may provide some bearing on future health in an area. The indicators are presented under three main headings - root causes, intervening factors and situation of health - which are then sub-divided based on the geographical scale at which they tend to operate which are regional, local, individual.
