Child Health Profiles

Child Health Profiles provide a snapshot of child health and well-being for each local council in England using key health indicators, which enables comparison locally, regionally and nationally. They are designed to help local councils and the NHS decide where to target resources to tackle health inequality in their local area.

You can choose from three profiles:

Adobe Flash Player version 8 (or higher) is required to view the profiles. To install Flash player visit Adobe's Flash install page.

For more information on using the tools see the Child Health Profiles Quick Guide.

Information in all of these profiles will be updated as new data becomes available.

Infant Mortality Profiles

These PCT profiles were developed by ChiMat with the Department of Health National Support Team for Infant Mortality and provide key indicators to help support the Implementation plan for reducing health inequalities in infant mortality: a good practice guide.

Child Health Profiles

The profiles are arranged into the five key areas set out in the Government programme Every Child Matters: be healthy; stay safe; enjoy and achieve; make a positive contribution; achieve economic well-being.

These interactive Child Health Profiles complement the Health Profiles developed by the Association of Public Health Observatories (APHO). You can view the broader Health Profiles on the APHO website.

They are based upon the work undertaken by the Child Public Health Intelligence Team in the Eastern Regional Public Health Observatory (ERPHO) who have produced static Child Health Profiles for the Eastern region. You can view the static regional Child Health Profiles on the ERPHO website.

Healthy Schools Local Area Profiles

The Healthy Schools enhancement model, which schools can become part of once they have achieved National Healthy School Status, was recently launched by The Healthy Schools Programme. An essential early stage is to undertake a needs assessment in order to identify priority health and wellbeing issues.

ChiMat has developed these Healthy Schools Local Area Profiles to support this needs assessment by presenting local data in a format that allows schools and local programmes to see at a glance how children and young people in their (top level) local authority compare nationally.

The profiles are arranged using the five outcomes of Every Child Matters. Nineteen key indicators are contained within the profiles.

Needs Assessment

These interactive profiles are complemented by a needs assessment report for each local area which can be easily read and printed. This report can be used without installing Adobe Flash on your machine.

To view the needs assessment report select 'top level local authority' from the 'select area type' and then choose your authority's name.
