  • Description: Silvers et al from the University of Otago in New Zealand recently completed a study on the effects of breastfeeding on wheezing and current asthma in children aged 2 to 6 years. This was a large study of 1,105 infants enrolled in a prospective birth cohort. After adjustment for confounders, each month of exclusive breastfeeding was associated with significant reductions in current asthma from 2 to 6 years of age.
