  • Description: This booklet aims to give African parents a greater understanding of the various issues around child upbringing in the UK and to suggest ways of dealing with those issues within the confines of UK laws in order to ensure that a child grows up in an environment that helps to maximise his/her life chances. It also aims to help reduce the numbers of African children being referred into the child protection system and ending up in care due to allegations of 'significant harm' sometimes as a result of their parents' cultural and religious practices which can be seen as abusive.
