  • Description: For many new mothers who suffer from postpartum depression, breastfeeding is a lifeline to their newborn baby. It may be the only validation of mothering they experience during this time. Mothers who continue to breastfeed while receiving treatment for postpartum depression have reported that breastfeeding was the only act that they felt identified them as the newborn's mother.
