CAMHS Modelling Tool

The CAMHS Modelling Tool helps NHS commissioners and local authority partners to plan and improve child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) in their area. The modelling tool enables you to devise and test plans to improve your services to meet the needs of under-18s with mental health problems. It is designed to work across all service areas including health, education, local authority and the third sector.

The tool addresses a critical need in CAMHS services for commissioners and their partners across health and care communities to take a system-wide overview of local need and services, and support decision-making to improve services. The tool directly supports the recommendations of the CAMHS Task Force report, Future in mind, including the development of local Transformation Plans for children and young people's mental health and wellbeing.

  • Access the CAMHS Modelling Tool (hosted on the South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit website)

The CAMHS Modelling Tool replaces the former Systems Model for Planning Age Appropriate Environments. The tool was commissioned by the CAMHS Team at NHS England, and developed by a partnership involving South, Central and West CSU, HCD Economics Ltd and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
