Research Summaries - young people's health and wellbeing

ChiMat is working with the Association of Young People’s Health (AYPH) to produce Research Summaries on key issues affecting young people’s health and wellbeing. These summaries will help promote evidence-based practice by making research findings more accessible.

Each Research Summary focuses on the key issues and trends in research and policy affecting young people’s health and wellbeing. They are a digest of the quarterly, more in-depth, AYPH Research Updates and have been tailored to ChiMat’s audience.

  • Adobe Acrobat Document Research summary: Promoting young people’s health literacy and understanding their help-seeking behaviour

One of the key challenges of adolescence is the transition to autonomy and independence that takes place across the second decade of life. Learning how to recognise health issues and manage the process of getting help is very important at this time. Supporting young people through this process means empowering them to take control of their health and giving them the information they need to seek appropriate services. As part of AYPH’s new Exploring Evidence series, this update takes a look at what we know about health literacy and help-seeking behaviour in this age group, concentrating on summarising interesting new research and alerting you to useful resources.
